A 30-year-old man employed by the Renton School District has been taken into custody following a disturbing discovery involving the privacy of students. The staff member, who worked at an elementary school, is accused of using a hidden camera to record children in a school restroom.
The investigation began when a student discovered a recording device concealed within a staff-only bathroom that was also accessible to students under certain circumstances. Upon being alerted, school administrators immediately contacted the Renton Police Department.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where they seized several electronic devices. Preliminary forensic analysis reportedly uncovered multiple videos showing children in various states of undress. Police have indicated that the recordings appear to have been made over a period of several months.
The suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending formal charges, has been booked into the King County Jail on multiple counts of voyeurism. The Renton School District released a statement expressing their shock and “deepest concern” over the incident, confirming that the employee has been placed on administrative leave and barred from all school property.
The district is currently working with law enforcement to identify all students who may have been captured on film and is providing counseling services to the affected families. Parents have been urged to speak with their children and report any suspicious behavior they may have noticed in the preceding months.
