A violent three-vehicle collision on State Route 9 in Snohomish County over the weekend resulted in the hospitalization of two drivers, with authorities pointing to impaired driving as the likely cause.

- The Collision: The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 7:24 p.m. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a 36-year-old driver from Shelton was traveling northbound on State Route 9 when their vehicle crossed the center line, triggering a high-speed, head-on crash with two oncoming vehicles.
- Severe Aftermath: The impact caused the suspected wrong-way vehicle to flip completely onto its roof. Of the other two cars involved, one was sent careening into a nearby ditch while the other came to a stop on the highway shoulder. Both sustained extensive front-end damage.
- Emergency Rescue: Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 4 arrived to find one of the motorists heavily trapped inside their destroyed vehicle. First responders had to use specialized hydraulic rescue tools—the “jaws of life”—for 17 minutes to successfully cut the driver free from the wreckage.
