A staff member at Skykomish K-12 School was taken into custody on Friday following an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a student.
Detectives from the King County Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit arrested the male employee at the school. According to court documents, the suspect is being investigated for child rape, communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, and possession of sexually explicit material involving a minor.
The investigation reportedly began after a student disclosed a relationship with the staff member that had lasted approximately two years. The victim alleged that the bond began after they transferred to the school following a personal tragedy. During this time, the staff member reportedly provided the student with alcohol, gifts, and preferential treatment.
The suspect made his preliminary court appearance on Saturday, March 7, and is currently being held in King County Jail with bail set at $750,000.
Authorities stated that the case remains active as they continue to gather evidence. Once the investigation is finalized, the findings will be turned over to the King County Prosecutor’s Office for a formal charging decision.
