Seattle detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 24-year-old man seriously injured early Saturday morning.
The incident came to light around 3:40 a.m. when the victim arrived at Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was rushed into surgery before officers could interview him.
Police located and stopped a silver Dodge that had dropped the victim off at the hospital. The two men inside the vehicle told investigators that the shooting took place during a gathering near Alki Avenue Southwest and 57th Avenue Southwest. According to their account, an unidentified individual approached the victim, opened fire, and then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Officers dispatched to the Alki Beach area confirmed the location of the shooting and recovered evidence at the scene. As of Sunday afternoon, the victim was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The Gun Violence Reduction Unit is leading the investigation, and the suspect remains at large.
