Tragedy in the Skies: One Dead, Another Hospitalized After Midair Skydiving Collision in Adams County

A skydiving excursion turned fatal on Sunday evening in Adams County, Washington, following a midair collision between two jumpers.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 2000 block of East Schoessler Road near Ritzville at approximately 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report that two skydivers were in urgent need of medical attention. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that the two individuals had crashed into one another mid-descent.

Tragically, one of the skydivers succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second jumper survived the impact but sustained injuries severe enough to require transport to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been publicly disclosed, pending notification of their next of kin, and the body has been released to the county coroner’s office.
