A dangerous high-speed collision in Snohomish County ended with a vehicle in flames and a suspect in custody after a brief attempt to flee the scene on foot.
The incident occurred late Saturday night near the intersection of Highway 9 and 108th Street Northeast. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a speeding vehicle slammed into another car, causing the suspect’s vehicle to ignite.
Details of the Incident:
- The Escape Attempt: Immediately following the impact, the driver of the burning car fled the scene on foot. Deputies, assisted by a K-9 unit and a helicopter from the King County Sheriff’s Office (Guardian 1), launched a search of the surrounding area.
- The Arrest: The suspect was located a short time later hiding in the brush and was taken into custody without further incident.
- Injuries: The occupants of the second vehicle involved in the crash sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. While the extent of their injuries hasn’t been fully disclosed, they are reportedly non-life-threatening.
