A fast-moving fire broke out early Thursday morning in a rural area of Snohomish, destroying a mobile home and leaving one resident hospitalized. Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 4 responded to the scene on 131st Avenue SE shortly after 4:00 a.m.
By the time crews arrived, the trailer was almost entirely engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby brush and neighboring structures in the heavily wooded area.
Details of the incident include:
- Casualties: One person who was inside the home at the time of the fire managed to escape but suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to recover.
- Total Loss: The trailer was deemed a total loss, and the Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced resident with emergency housing and supplies.
- Cause Unknown: Fire investigators are currently on-site sifted through the debris to determine the origin of the blaze. There is currently no evidence of foul play, though the investigation remains open.
Local fire officials took the opportunity to remind residents of the importance of having working smoke detectors, especially in older mobile homes where fires can spread with extreme speed.
