Redmond Police Arrest Serial Thief Targeting West Coast Guitar Centers

A months-long investigation into a series of high-end instrument thefts has led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man accused of targeting Guitar Center locations across the West Coast. The Redmond Police Department announced the arrest as part of an ongoing crackdown on organized retail theft.

The Investigation and Arrest:

  • The Suspect: Armando Jacome Vignaud, 34, was identified through surveillance footage, Department of Licensing records, and a distinctive neck tattoo.
  • The Pattern: The investigation began after a $3,000 guitar was stolen from the Redmond Guitar Center in late 2025 by a group of three individuals. Detectives eventually tracked the instrument to a local pawn shop, where records showed the suspect had conducted at least 15 different transactions involving high-value musical equipment.
  • The Final Straw: Despite the ongoing investigation, the suspect allegedly returned to the same Redmond store on March 21, 2026, to commit another theft. He was apprehended just days later on March 26.

Broader Impact:

Authorities believe the suspect was part of a larger, coordinated effort to steal expensive gear from Guitar Centers throughout Washington, Oregon, and California. While Vignaud is currently facing second-degree theft charges, police are still working to identify two other accomplices seen in store security footage.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe praised the persistence of his detectives, noting that the department views organized retail crime as a serious threat and remains dedicated to holding offenders accountable. Local musicians and pawn shop owners are encouraged to stay vigilant as the investigation into the remaining suspects continues.
