Police Search for Suspect Following Multi-Car Hit-and-Run on SR 167

A five-vehicle collision on State Route 167 in Kent caused major traffic disruptions on Sunday afternoon after the driver responsible for the crash fled the scene.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the incident occurred on April 12, 2026, just south of South 180th Street. The crash resulted in a total closure of all northbound lanes while emergency responders attended to victims and cleared the wreckage.

Key details from the incident include:

  • Suspect at Large: Witnesses reported that the driver who caused the initial collision immediately exited their vehicle and fled the area on foot. Law enforcement conducted a search of the vicinity, but the suspect remains at large.
  • Non-Life-Threatening Injuries: While the multi-car pileup resulted in several injuries, WSP Trooper Rick Johnson confirmed that none of the victims sustained life-threatening wounds. Medical personnel treated several individuals at the scene before they were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation.
  • Significant Traffic Delays: The collision blocked all northbound lanes for an extended period during the Sunday afternoon commute. State troopers and WSDOT crews worked to divert traffic while tow trucks were brought in to remove the five damaged vehicles.
