Tragic North Everett House Fire Claims the Lives of Elderly Couple

A Sunday morning house fire in Everett has ended in tragedy, claiming the lives of two residents believed to be in their 70s.

The fire broke out on April 12, 2026, in the Port Gardner neighborhood. According to reports from the Everett Fire Department, emergency crews were dispatched to a home in the 3800 block of Wetmore Avenue around 8:00 a.m. after multiple witnesses reported smoke billowing from the structure.

Key details of the incident include:

  • Rapid Response: Firefighters arrived on the scene just over a minute after the initial dispatch. Upon arrival, they encountered an active fire and immediately entered the building for both fire suppression and a search-and-rescue mission.
  • Fatal Discovery: During their search, crews located a man and a woman inside the home. Despite swift efforts by EMS personnel to provide life-saving treatment, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Investigation Underway: While the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the origin and cause of the blaze. Following standard protocol for fatal incidents, the Everett Police Department is also conducting a death investigation.
