Seattle detectives are searching for a suspect following a drive-by shooting in the Chinatown-International District (CID) on Tuesday afternoon that left two young men hospitalized.
The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. in the 600 block of South Jackson Street. According to investigators, a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old were walking east along the sidewalk when a sedan pulled up next to them. After a brief altercation between the victims and the occupants of the car, someone inside the vehicle opened fire.
Responding officers found the 16-year-old with gunshot wounds to his torso and arm, while the 19-year-old sustained injuries to his hand and ankle. Police provided emergency aid until medics arrived to transport both victims to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
The suspect’s vehicle, described only as a sedan, was last seen speeding eastbound on South Jackson Street. No arrests have been made, and the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit is currently investigating the motive behind the attack.
Authorities are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line.
